After 5 years in the business, we decided to celebrate with something truly special. Our modern type II jacket in our coveted ARASHI fabric. This is our very first AIZOME fabric. It is very slubby and textured. A traditional Japanese dyeing method that is unrivalled and very costly to make. The slub yarn is individually selected and dipped in natural indigo by hand. The colour is a thing of beauty, a very light, yet deep blue. It is our most limited fabric as the production is slow and there are only a handful of Japanese craftsmen able to dye the fabric. No other denim requires this much manual labour. The yarns are then woven with ultra-low tension to pronounce the texture even more. At 18oz, this is definitely on the heavier side of things. The structure reminded us of a rising tempest, therefore we named it ARASHI which translated means storm. If you want to learn more about this fabric, this might be handy: https://stridewise.com/tanuki-aizome-jeans-review/
Limited to 50 jackets. Once they're gone, they're gone. Exclusively available at Tanukijapan.com
